The Department of Water Management was established in 1986. The department aims at imparting B.Sc., M.Sc. and The Department of Water Management was established in 1986. The department aims at imparting B.Sc., M.Sc. and PhD education on a wide range of water management subjects. Water Management specialization blends the agriculture and applied engineering sciences associated with irrigation with appropriate organizational and managerial skills. Water Management specialization has been designed for students who wish to pursue a career in day-to-day management of irrigation and drainage schemes, or in associated research and consultancy work. During the past 25 years, the Department has produced more than 150 graduates, who are serving various organizations at provincial, national and international level. The Department has highly qualified and experienced faculty and well equipped laboratories.
Goal / Aim:
Water Management degree programme provides the appropriate science and technology background required to manage water effectively and efficiently for agriculture. The common themes are the scientific assessment of plant water requirements and water resources, and the management of efficient irrigation systems. On successful completion of the degree students will be able to implement and operate appropriate and sustainable solutions to irrigation and agricultural water management, with due regard to the technical, social and institutional constraints imposed by the surrounding environment.
